PRP Treatment
Tissue Repair Using the Power of Your Own Blood

What Is PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a plasma fraction obtained from the patient’s own blood via centrifugation, with a platelet concentration 3–8 times higher than normal. Platelets strongly stimulate tissue repair and angiogenesis through the growth factors they contain (PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, EGF, IGF-1).
PRP is a biological catalyst that concentrates the body’s own healing capacity and directs it to the target area.

Preparation Protocol
- 15–60 ml of venous blood is drawn from the patient
- Blood collected in special anticoagulant tubes is centrifuged once (to separate platelet-poor plasma)
- 2. Centrifugation increases the platelet concentration by 3 to 8 times
- It can be activated with an activator (CaClâ‚‚ or thrombin) or used in its native form
- The prepared PRP is injected into the target area
Applications and Activities
| Indications | Application Method | Level of Clinical Evidence | Average Session |
|---|---|---|---|
| Knee osteoarthritis | Intra-articular injection | High (meta-analysis) | 1–3 |
| Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) | Peritoneal injection | Medium–High | 1–3 |
| Androgenetic alopecia | Scalp injection | High (RCT) | 3–4 |
| Facial rejuvenation (PRP facial) | Microinjection | Middle | 3–4 |
| Chronic wound / diabetic ulcer | Topical or injection | Middle | 3–6 |
Intra-articular PRP: An Evidence-Based Option for Knee Pain
In knee osteoarthritis, intra-articular PRP injections have been reported to provide superior long-term pain control compared to corticosteroids and hyaluronic acid. Intra-articular injections are performed under ultrasound guidance to maximize accuracy.
Expectations
PRP is not a miracle cure. Tissue repair takes place over several weeks; the effects usually become noticeable within 4–8 weeks. In cases of severe tissue damage, such as stage 4 osteoarthritis, PRP may offer only limited benefits.
